1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using getFreePet services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access our services.
⚠️ Important: These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and getFreePet LLC.
2. Service Overview
getFreePet provides:
- Pet Adoption Services: Permanent placement of pets with qualified families at no adoption fee
- Pet Rental Services: Temporary pet companionship with minimum commitment periods
- Pet Care Products: Required food subscriptions and optional care services
- Support Services: Ongoing pet care guidance and emergency support
ℹ️ Business Model Transparency: While pets are provided free of charge, our revenue comes from required food subscriptions and optional care services. This ensures sustainable pet care and support.
3. Pet Adoption Program Terms
3.1 Eligibility Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must provide valid identification and proof of residence
- Must pass background check for animal welfare history
- Must have suitable living arrangements for chosen pet type
3.2 Adoption Commitments
- Lifetime Care: Commitment to care for pet for its natural lifetime
- Monthly Food Subscription: Required subscription to approved pet food brands only
- Regular Check-ins: Quarterly wellness visits by getFreePet team
- Return Policy: If unable to continue care, pet must be returned to getFreePet (not rehomed independently)
🚨 Critical Requirement: Unauthorized rehoming of adopted pets constitutes breach of contract and may result in legal action.
4. Pet Rental Program Terms
4.1 Rental Periods
- Minimum Period: 30 days (1 month)
- Maximum Initial Period: 6 months
- Extensions: Available in 30-day increments
- Early Termination: 7-day notice required, fees may apply
4.2 Security Deposit
- Amount: $200-$500 depending on pet type and size
- Refund Conditions: Full refund upon return of pet in good health
- Deduction Reasons: Veterinary costs, damage to pet accessories, or early termination fees
4.3 Weekly Check-ins
Our certified pet care specialists will conduct weekly check-ins to ensure pet welfare and provide ongoing support. These visits are included in the rental service at no additional cost.
5. Food & Grooming Requirements
5.1 Food Subscription Requirements
- Mandatory Subscription: All users must maintain active food subscription for their pet
- Approved Brands: Food must be selected from getFreePet's approved vendor list
- Nutritional Standards: All food meets or exceeds AAFCO nutritional standards
- Delivery Schedule: Automatic monthly delivery, customizable quantities
- Pricing: Competitive market rates with subscriber discounts
5.2 Professional Grooming Services
- Regular Grooming: Monthly visits by certified pet groomers
- Service Pricing: Market-rate pricing for professional grooming services
- Health Monitoring: Groomers conduct basic health checks during visits
- Optional Services: Nail trimming, dental care, and specialized treatments available
💡 Cost Transparency: Food subscriptions typically range from $30-80/month depending on pet size. Grooming services range from $40-120 per session based on pet type and services required.
6. Veterinary Care Policy
6.1 Routine Veterinary Care
- Approved Veterinarians: Regular checkups must be conducted at getFreePet-approved veterinary clinics
- Annual Requirements: Minimum annual wellness exam and vaccination updates
- Cost Coverage: Basic wellness exams covered by getFreePet for adopted pets
- Advanced Care: Specialized treatments and procedures are user's responsibility
6.2 Emergency Veterinary Care
- Emergency Situations: Any veterinarian may be used for true emergencies
- 24/7 Hotline: Emergency consultation available through our support line
- Reimbursement: Emergency care costs may be eligible for partial reimbursement
- Documentation: All emergency care must be documented and reported within 48 hours
6.3 Pre-existing Conditions
All pets come with complete health records. Any pre-existing conditions will be disclosed prior to adoption/rental. Users accept responsibility for ongoing management of disclosed conditions.
7. User Responsibilities
7.1 Daily Care Requirements
- Provide adequate shelter, exercise, and socialization
- Maintain clean and safe living environment
- Follow feeding schedules and dietary requirements
- Monitor pet health and behavior changes
- Provide identification tags and microchip maintenance
7.2 Legal Compliance
- Comply with all local pet licensing requirements
- Maintain required insurance coverage where applicable
- Follow leash laws and public space regulations
- Report any incidents involving the pet immediately
7.3 Communication Requirements
- Respond to check-in communications within 48 hours
- Report changes in living situation or contact information
- Notify getFreePet of any travel plans exceeding 7 days
- Participate in quarterly wellness assessments
8. Payments and Fees
8.1 No Adoption/Rental Fees
getFreePet does not charge adoption fees or rental fees for pets. This commitment is fundamental to our mission of connecting pets with loving families.
8.2 Required Service Fees
- Food Subscription: Monthly recurring payment for approved pet food
- Grooming Services: Per-session payment for professional grooming
- Security Deposits: Refundable deposits for rental program participants
8.3 Payment Methods and Terms
- Automatic billing for subscription services
- Major credit cards and bank transfers accepted
- 30-day payment terms for service invoices
- Late payment fees may apply (maximum 1.5% per month)
8.4 Refund Policy
- Food Subscriptions: Unused food may be returned for prorated refund
- Security Deposits: Full refund upon successful completion of rental period
- Grooming Services: No refunds for completed services; rescheduling available
9. Liability and Insurance
9.1 User Liability
- Users assume full liability for pet's actions and behavior
- Users responsible for property damage caused by pet
- Users liable for injury to third parties caused by pet
- Users must maintain adequate homeowner's/renter's insurance
9.2 getFreePet Liability Limitations
- getFreePet liability limited to gross negligence or willful misconduct
- Maximum liability cap of $1,000 per incident
- No liability for pet behavior or pre-existing health conditions
- No liability for consequential or indirect damages
9.3 Insurance Requirements
Users are strongly encouraged to maintain pet liability insurance and may be required to provide proof of coverage for certain pet types or rental situations.
⚠️ Important: This limitation of liability clause does not limit our responsibility where prohibited by law. Users in certain jurisdictions may have additional rights.
10. Privacy and Data Protection
10.1 Information Collection

- Pet care history and preferences
- Payment and billing information
- Communication records and service interactions
10.2 Information Use
- Matching users with appropriate pets
- Providing ongoing support and services
- Processing payments and maintaining accounts
- Improving services and user experience
- Complying with legal requirements
10.3 Information Sharing
We do not sell personal information. Limited sharing occurs only with:
- Authorized service providers (veterinarians, groomers)
- Payment processors and financial institutions
- Legal authorities when required by law
- Emergency contacts in case of pet welfare concerns
10.4 Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption, secure servers, and regular security audits to protect your information.
11. Termination of Services
11.1 User-Initiated Termination
- Adoption Program: Pets must be returned to getFreePet
- Rental Program: 7-day written notice required
- Subscription Services: 30-day notice required
- Final Obligations: All outstanding payments must be settled
11.2 getFreePet-Initiated Termination
We may terminate services for:
- Violation of these terms and conditions
- Non-payment of required fees
- Evidence of pet neglect or abuse
- Fraudulent or misleading information provided
- Failure to cooperate with welfare checks
11.3 Post-Termination Obligations
- Immediate return of pet and all accessories
- Settlement of outstanding financial obligations
- Cooperation with final welfare assessment
- Destruction of confidential information
12. Dispute Resolution
12.1 Informal Resolution
Before initiating formal proceedings, parties agree to attempt resolution through direct communication and mediation.
12.2 Arbitration Agreement
- Disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration
- Arbitration conducted under American Arbitration Association rules
- Single arbitrator selected by mutual agreement
